Dear all: It is apparent that some Bush supporters on this forum do not let facts get in the way of their repeating the radical right-wing talk radio talking points. They are trying to pass if off as facts. John Kerry has spent about 20 years in the Senate and voted over 6,000 times on all the important issues of our times ranging from education, the environment, defense, etc. Let's just examine one of the lies about his record which is often repeated - that he is cutting defense and weak on keeping America strong. See http://slate.msn.com/id/2096127/ which actually has quotes by George Bush Sr. and Dick Cheney wanting to cut defense spending (I agree that some defense spending is wasteful and beneficial to the military-industrial complex - a term REPUBLICAN President Eisenhower used). See quotes below and they have the gall to call Kerry weak when he actually fought in Vietnam when George W. was hiding in the Alabama woods. Cheney & Ashcroft got OVER 10 deferments NOT to fight in Vietnam, they are the chickenhawks who talk tough about war while someone's else poor kid dies for oil. I wonder if any on this forum who support the Iraq war actually volunteered to fight? George Bush Sr.: "After completing 20 planes for which we have begun procurement, we will shut down further production of the B-2 bomber. We will cancel the small ICBM program. We will cease production of new warheads for our sea-based ballistic missiles. We will stop all new production of the Peacekeeper [MX] missile. And we will not purchase any more advanced cruise missiles. … The reductions I have approved will save us an additional $50 billion over the next five years. By 1997 we will have cut defense by 30 percent since I took office." Dick "Halliburton" Cheney: "Overall, since I've been Secretary, we will have taken the five-year defense program down by well over $300 billion. That's the peace dividend. And now we're adding to that another $50 billion .. of so-called peace dividend."
