Santosh - I am sure you're correct about the reasons for the caste system in India today. And I feel that most people outside of India don't even think about the Hindu caste system; it's not at all on their radar.

It just seems that George is always tilting at some right-wing windmill somewhere in the world. :-)

I wonder if conservatives in the U.S. realize that the
Hindu caste system is the bedrock of conservatism in
India. Indian liberalism has failed to eliminate it. I
suspect this is so because we liberals have not tried
hard enough. We have never backed our public
denunciations with private actions in our own lives.
There are many reasons for this, most of which are not
very flattering, granted some may be as bland as a
simple inertia or lack of courage to go against the
grain.
