A good example of a PLANTED story in the newspaper can be seen on page 6 of
the Navhind Times dated 26 November,2004, under the heading ENVIRONMENT BODY
HAILS CM FOR PROTECTING TREES. The text of the last paragraph is straight
from the response of Dr.Devender Pandey,Chief Conservator of Forests to
ToI's Goa Plus a few months back regarding the self same Raintrees. I had
rebutted his statement in the same issue. I STAND BY WHAT I SAID THEN.

Would someone be kind enough to tell me who are the Executive Committee
members[ ad hoc or otherwise ] of the "Goa Chapter" of the INDIAN
ENVIRONMENT ASSOCIATION ...and where this chapter of the association
functions.[ One clue is there in the pressnote," the IEA will plant 300 to
400 trees *in due course of time* in consultation with the Corporation of
Panaji and the Department of Forests". that is as vague as the "officialese"
language enables one to be.] Once I have that, we can together find out what
they plan to do. There is nothing that it has been known to do thus
far...except for the solitary pressnote in the Govt.[ any government ]
propaganda mouthpiece...the NT.

Viva Goa.
