December 1, 2004

Dear Chris,

World AIDS Day is commemorated on December 1. It is an international day of
action to celebrate the progress made in the fight against AIDS and bring
the challenges that remain into focus. The theme of this year's World AIDS
Day is Women, Girls, and HIV and AIDS, and in particular, how inequality is
fueling the AIDS epidemic.

>>> 4 Things You Can Do Today: <<<

1) Urge President Bush to lift US restrictions on health care services
worldwide. Click here to take action:

2) Learn why HIV/AIDS is a human rights issue, and what it means to take a
human rights-based approach to fighting the epidemic. Read AI's new
report, "Women, HIV/AIDS and Human Rights":

3) Visit our 16 Days of Activism Against Gender Violence campaigning page,
where you will find online actions on Swaziland, the Democratic Republic of
Congo, and Rwanda:
http://takeaction.amnestyusa.org/ctt.asp?u=683608&l=11142

4) Sign up for the new "Health & Human Rights" Issue Interest area in the
Online Action Center so that you can receive future updates and actions
relating to HIV/AIDS and other health and human rights issues. To sign up
you will need to edit your profile at:
http://takeaction.amnestyusa.org/ctt.asp?u=683608&l=11150 and select
"Health and Human Rights" as your Interest Area. Please keep in mind that
you must login to edit your profile.

With best wishes,
