Goans from West Palm Beach, Miami, Fort Lauderdale, and other surrounding area gathered together for their annual celebration of the feast of St. Francis Xavier in Nativity Church at Hollywood. The presiding Celebrant of the Holy Mass was Father Diogo (Digi) Fernandes. It was a wonderful occasion to see so many Goan families to praise the Lord together, to share the meal together, and to dance with Goan music. The Reverend Father Digi in his sermon reminded the Goan folks that the greatness of St. Francis is as equal as that of Father Joseph Vaz, our native brother, whose missionary work carried the message of Jesus to so many hearts. St. Francis Xavier is not "Goyncho Saib!" as popularly known. "Goyncho Saib" is Jesus alone! St. Francis, Father Joseph Vaz are bridges that help the faithful to cross over to Jesus by their example of service to humanity and by their humility to embrace and to uphold the dignity of each and every individual, and above all their desire to see the beauty of culture of the people they try to serve - were some of the points of Father Digi's homily.
