Hundreds of Ribandarites thronged the streets of Ribandar for the traditional annual New Year day serenade last night. The serenade, which started at Ribandar Fonduvem, wended its way through Ribandar Patto and after proceeding to Sao Pedro culminated at Fonduvem.
A sparkling float dedicated to the children and cartooning "happiness always" was designed and directed by Shailesh Volvoikar of the local group "Strikers" and led the serenade. A float designed on the theme " Lamb of God" by famed Ribandar artist Mauricio Fernandes heralded the New Year. The young and the old regardless of caste and creed danced into the night celebrating New Year's Day. The serenade accompanied by a live band " Breathless" entertained the thronging crowds with over six hours of non-stop music through the night. Aires Rodrigues Ribandar
