RESPONSE: In the early years i.e. late '70's ; Singapore Airlines were indifferent and perhaps even rude to non white passengers. There was a courtesy campaign initiated by the Singapore Tourist Board, which involved all aspects of Singaporean Society. Singapore Airlines staff were made aware of their responsibilities, especially to Indian and Malay travellers who were not given the same treatment as Whites and Chinese people. They were told to treat everyone fairly as everyone paid the same fare. In a few years this paid handsome dividends. Perhaps India should embark on a Courtesy first campaign. It would be real nice if Goa, being a tourist destination could start the ball rolling in this respect. This would mean educating the vast numbers of non Goans working in the tourist industry in Goa. Goans too should pay heed of what is required of them. Last but not least it would be in the interests of all, if a metered service is implemented and maintained for both Richshaw Wallahs as well as the Taxis.
