I fully support your response re: the 'identify WHICH caste you belong to' nonsense from Teotonio de Souza.
As a Catholic I do NOT and will NOT belong to ANY "caste".
even If I were NOT a Catholic, I would NOT belong to any "caste"
Teotonio's post assumes two positions about Goans:
1. That ALL anti-casteist Goans were Hindus before they became Catholics.
Sorry fer ya, TRS. As a historian, I expected you to know this. Some were Buddhists, Muslims, Jews, Atheists ..... and Kunbis. (outcastes like moi)
2. That we care to know IF at all our forebears belonged to any part of that Apartheid System.
What does TRS mean by saying "indicate what caste he BELONGS" (please note the present tense)
Would the good historian Teotonio de Souza lead the way by indicating ' what caste he BELONGS'?
