Not well enough, Jerry. I will assume that the stance you have taken in the above post is genuine, and not a politically correct defensive posture in the light of your earlier statements. Can you defend these earlier generalizations of yours? - That our problems stem from our Hindutva mentality, which we have possessed for generations, or that all our customs are diseases, which need to be eliminated. > >Who brought this term in our vocabularies HINDUTVA? >It's not a matter of chauvinism. > Please answer your own question, and then please tell me how you would answer the following questions: Have we possessed a Hindutva mentality for generations despite being converted to or influenced by the liberal and progressive religious traditions of Islam and Christianity? Why is Hindutva not a matter of religious chauvinism? > >I have no dislike for Hinduism, but the situation that >is prevailing now a day with a minority VHP, what is >your say on this? > My say on this is that you are right this time. The VHP folks are a minority. They were defeated in the last election. Their Hindutva mentality is not the mentality of the majority of Indians. > >Why are they so scared? Or are they themselves not >sure of their faith that they want to make troubles >for minorities? > They are scared, perhaps, because other minorities have more power than they do. > >Coming to caste system, don't you think that the >cast system that is prevailing now, did originate >centuries ago in India, or did the Moslems and >Christians bring it when they ruled this land? > Caste system is an atrocious relic of our past. The Moslems and Christians brought in their own atrocious practices to India. > >We Christians are very peaceful citizens of Goa as >well as India, and nowhere you must have heard us >making any problems, so what you and Xhakuti say shows >your VHP mentality. > We agnostics are very peaceful as well. The same applies to the majority of our Hindu, Muslim, Buddhist, Jain, Parsi, etc brethren. I also know that a minority of Christians in many countries are not so peaceful or tolerant. I have heard them making problems in these countries. I do not have a VHP mentality. In fact, I have spoken out against it on many occasions in this forum and elsewhere. Xacuti Colaco also does not have a VHP mentality. He is either for the independence of Goa or for the re-invasion of Goa by the Portuguese. He wants to kick all the Bharatis out of Goa. In all likelihood he is against Hindus of all persuasions. I may be wrong, but I think, given a choice, he would rather convert all of them to Christianity. Xacuti, Please correct me if I am wrong.
