Would any historian be able to confirm whether this picture is realistic? 
Did Hindu migration happen only after the arrival of the Portuguese or the 
Bijapur-based Muslim rulers in Goa? Was migration largely caused by

The Inquisition was many demanded by missionaries in Goa who were angered 
by Hindu efforts to cause converts to backslide, and the King of Portugal 
heard out opposing delegations, including of Hindus, before approving the 
Inquisition; the Inquisition was coupled with a proclamation demanding 
that the remaining Hindus either convert or emigrate. Most of the 
remaining Hindus, largely high caste, choose to emigrate outside the 
limits of Portuguese sovereignity, in bordering areas - such as Manguesim 
- that were a few centuries later, incorporated into Goa.

A few years following the emigration of the Hindus, the Hindu king of 
Bednore, who appreciated these immigrants as excellent agriculturists, 
invited them to return to Goa and bring more migrants to colonize his 
forests and thereby increase his tax base. This second emigration, of Goan 
Christians, was organized by treaty with Portugal, and occured with the 
full support and encouragement of Portugal. These people became the 
nucleus of the Konkanni Christian people in Mangalore.
