Grow up Edits for 11 June 2005 Is Dr. Willy interested in the welfare of Goa or is Dr. Willy interested in just trying to prove a point? Is Dr. Willy and the NCP actually worried about the welfare of the people or is this just one of those selfish, self-concieted acts that blatantly say "Goa is nothing to me it is me, myself and mine first and last." And this is precisely the message Dr. Willy and the NCP are sending to the people of Goa, that they care two hoots whatever happens to the State as long as they, like small town bullys, get a chance to occasionally raise their voice. The point of the matter is Dr. Willy, and for that matter, what has the NCP done for the State apart from issuing threats of withdrawing support to the government thus causing it to collapse and what are you trying to prove. This is no sensible and mature behaviour of a seasoned politician. The question is "what has the NCP" done that such threatening noises should be made and why should Dr. Willy keep demanding all the time. Why can't there be a consensus for the betterment of Goa. No doubt the five ministers did play a crucial role in bringing down the former BJP government but if one actually takes into consideration as to who made the ultimate `sacrifice' then does it mean someone who was in the BJP government for one day or ministers who were in the BJP government for months, years and in certain cases decades. Then in this case what sacrifice was made. Secondly, why suddenly now the demands that the composition of the cabinet be changed? Prior to the second vote of confidence on March 4, 2005 it was decided by the United Legislative Party that there would be two deputy chief ministers. Why now, Dr. Willy? Are you putting your foot down and demanding that there should be only one? Is it that competition may expose the weaker man? It appears from this type of behavior that a certain section of Goan politicians are not interested in the welfare of Goa but only for themselves, their small areas of concern where they can be lionized and nothing else. This is not politics but simple selfishness and does not augur well for anyone in the State. And this is one classic example of how some politicians are more interested in their petty interests rather than the welfare of the people, who voted them into power in the hope that they would do something different from the previous government. It appears from their remarks and behaviour that they do not care about the peoples hopes but just what they want. Like little spoilt children the only thing to say is please grow up. -- Cheers, Gabe Menezes. London, England
