Goanet might really become a better place if we all (me too!) concentrated less on putting each other down, and less on proving ourselves right.
We are unlikely to convince others with divergent views about our positions based on fundamental ideological positions. Some of us believe that the pre-1961 situation in Goa was a colonial one; other believe that the post-1961 situation is colonial. Some might thing both have shades of colonialism. There could be other options on this front. What is 'terrorism'? Is it 7/7 in London and 9/11 in New York? Is it the continuing invasion of Iraq. Or is that an invasion at all? Did weapons of mass destruction really exist, or do some of us refuse to see them? Does God exist? Is religion a positive or negative force today? These positions are based on ideology and our beliefs. If I choose to believe one or the other options, there's little you can do about it. And my abuse isn't going to help to change your views either. This is the usual call to silent Goanetters: tell us about the kind of Goanet you'd like to see. Don't just criticise things as they exist; you too have a duty in sending in your contribution. What would be your views on the following suggestions: * Goanet Admin should be more strict while allowing posts that could result in a flame-war [AGREE/DISAGREE] * Goanet Admin should allow all winds to blow, and leave it for Goanetters to speak out when they feel someone violates the line [AGREE/DISAGREE] * Goanetters should post a maximum of 4 posts each day. This could encourage people to post quality. [AGREE/DISAGREE] * No limits should be set on the number of posts each day (AGREE/DISAG] * Every Goanetter should be required to make at least one post of three lines each week, so as to build a sense of participation [AGREE/DISAGREE] Awaiting the views of others. Specially those who suffer the loquacious us the year-round ;-) FN
