It never dawned on me that the discussion on the above subject would
open so many links.

Thanx, Jose , for the correction. It was indentured labor not bonded.
Was also not aware that other Indians used Singh not only as a last
name, but also as a middle name. I was always under the impression
that  the Singh last name (surname) pertained solely to Sikhs.

Gratified to note the longer version of WOG and the  and the 17 other
acronyms. In East Africa ,as stated by Gabe, WOG was used as a crude
"label" for the local blacks in addition to other derogatory names
like "monkeys".And our goans- when speaking among themselves- used a
shortened version of "humps" from the konkani word - "humpri"

Somebody mentioned "paddys". I asumming he was stating that it was
a derogatory word for the Irish.
