[Goanet] ABBE FARIA'S SERMON IN THE SISTINE CHAPEL

We all know that Abbe Faria was a Goan.  We also all know the majestic splendor 
and significance of the Sistine Chapel.  What we may not all know is that Abbe 
Faria was invited by Pope Pius VI to preach in the Sistine Chapel.  The sermon 
on the “Advent of the Holy Spirit” was delivered in Latin, in the presence of 
His Holiness, Pius VI.

Fr. Ivo da C. Souza who has studied Latin, Greek, Hebrew, Aramaic and Sanskrit, 
and who is also fluent in English, Kokanni and Portuguese, was – at the request 
of Luis S.R. Vas – gracious in undertaking the task to translate Abbe Faria’s 
sermon.  His eloquent translation can be accessed at:
