Dolphy Cascia, Walter Lasrado, Ancy Paladka Selected for 2005 Literary Awards
Mumbai, Aug 30: Konkani Sabha, Mulund (Regd) on Tuesday announced its literary awards for 2005. Dolphy Cascia has been selected for his excellence in publication, Walter Lasrado for his thoughtful editorials and Ancy Paladka for his children's literature. The award ceremony will be held on September 10 at 7.45 pm in St Pius X High School hall, Mulund. A cultural programme is also planned on this occasion. A musical Nite by Wilfred Fernandes and troupe and a Konkani play "Daktto Padryab" by the members of the association will be the highlights. Talented children'also will be selected and honoured during this programme. Dolphy Cascia is a Konkani novelist, producer, director, actor of Konkani theatre, journalist, editor and a publisher has published 108 Konkani books under his Punov publication. He has been also the editor of Mithr Konkani Monthly, Kurov Konkani Monthly and Jhelo Konkani Monthly magazines. He has written 38 novels, 22 plays, 10 Tulu plays, one in Kannada, more than 300 short stories, poetry and several articles on various subjects. He has won Karnataka Konkani Akademy, Konknni Kutam, Konkani Natak Sabha Man of the year award and several other awards and honours. He was also a Sahitya Academy advisory board member for four years. Walter Lasrado, who is known for his editorials, is a novelist, story writer and a translator. He has made significant contribution since the time of Poinnari till now. Though simple in nature, his writings are very effective. Ancy Paladka started his literary career 23 years back as a Konkani poet. Later he switched on to Konkani children's literature. He has not only worked extensively in various fields of children's literature but formed children's groups for the development of Konkani. He has bagged Karnataka Konkani Akademy and Dr. T. M. A.
