In an interview given in London, Lok Sabha MP from Goa, Churchill Alemao is quoted as saying:
"The Navy ... must relocate to Seabird as they have all facilities for an airbase including a suitable runaway (sic)". But as far as we know this facility is still only on the drawing boards so is Churchill exaggerating the position for effect? On the other hand we have the Navy's official position as of last month that the Seabird facility can only accommodate helicopters when 6 months earlier a naval top brass had said on his visit to Goa that the plan was for a 6000 foot runway at Seabird. So what is the truth about the airfield or whatever at Seabird? Anybody in the know? Its crucial for resolution of the Dabolim/Mopa controversy.
