BCCI to provide more money to states to construct stadiums PANAJI, DEC 9 (PTI) Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) president, Sharad Pawar, today said the financial help of Rs 4 crore given to various states to construct stadium would be hiked to give thrust to cricket at grassroot level. "There is normal practise of giving Rs four crore to the states to costruct stadium which is not enough for the construction of an international standard stadium. We will improve this figure and provide more money," Pawar, said while addressing a gathering of members of the State cricket clubs here in a function organised by Goa Cricket Association. The BCCI chief also assured a One-day match to Goa on April 6, 2006 as the state was deprived of international One day matches for last four years. Asserting that the infrustructure upgradation at grass root level is necessary to make India the world champion, Pawar said that Rs 200 to Rs 300 crore available with the BCCI is the contribution of cricket loving population and that money is not meant to be kept to earn interest. "We would like to invest certain portion from that money in infrastructure upgradation,'' he said. Pawar also assured financial help to construct international standard cricket stadium in Goa.
