Margao: Churchill Brothers paved the way for Super Cup champions Sporting Club de Goa to claim second place on better goal difference when they held Vasco Sports club to a 2-2 draw on the concluding day of the Hutch Goa Professional Footall league championship at the Nehru stadium Fatorda today. Anthony Pereira scored both the goals for Vasco in the 19th and 42nd minute, while for Churchill Brothers Savio Montero in the 55th and Sujoy Datta in the 72nd minute scored the goals. Sporting club de Goa and Vasco Sports Club tied with 24 points each. Sporting scored 20 goals against nine while Vasco scored 18 against 12 and on better goal difference, bagged second spot. Vasco, who started with full steam, moved ahead in the 19th minute of the first half through Anthony Pereira who headed in a good cross pass received from Dennis Cabral. Three minutes before the breather Anthony scored his second goal (brace) it was a pass from Cedric Pixoite 2-0. Trailing by two goals at the breather, Churchill regrouped themselves well and reduced the margin in the 55th minute through Savio Monteiro, who neatly headed in a cross pass by Bungo Singh from the right flank 2-1. Churchill's Sujoy Datta equalised in the 72nd minute whose long range shot found the net 2-2. Vasco's Anthony Pereira was today adjudged the Timex man of the match award for his fine performance.
