I fully agree with the decision of the Lok Sabha Speaker in expelling the
eleven MPs who were caught on video taking money for asking questions. It
does not matter that the sums involved were small, like Rs 5,000 to Rs
50,000. What matters is the principle and the need for the MPs to set
themselves up as responsible role models.
On the same basis, the Speaker should take action against those like Natwar
Singh, Laloo Prasad Yadav, etc., who have also taken money, given to them
primarily because they are politicians. I am surprised that there is no
such move in the media asking the Speaker to make a proper follow-up on his
actions.
