Hello all Have read a lot on this subject but no where anyone mentions of the involvement of Gamal Abdel Nasser, the then Egyptian President and a very good friend of Pandit Jawharlal Nehru. I have heard that on Nehru's instructions, Gamal Nasser had closed the Suez Canal, so that no reinforcements from Portugual could reach Goa.
