CMC scraps project BY HERALD REPORTER MARGAO, JAN 30 — Opposition to the controversial Housing Board colony at Panzorconne-Cuncolim received a shot in the arm with the Cuncolim Municipal Council on Monday adopting an unanimous resolution to scrap the project. At Monday's meeting, the Council was unanimous in rejecting Goa Housing Board's request to grant a final NOC for the scheme to develop housing scheme in the town. Incidentally, this is the second time in as many years that the Cuncolim Municipality has resolved not to grant any NOC for the housing scheme in view of strong objections from the local populace that the housing colony would only invite outsiders to settle in the town. CMC Chairperson Filon Vaz disclosed that the Council has adopted the resolution taking into account the sentiments of the people who are opposed to the project. -- Salaam ali kum. Gabe Menezes.
