Floyd, Bhushan win double crown PBC B'TON HERALD CORRESPONDENT TALEIGAO, JAN 30 - Floyd Araujo and Bhushan Anvekar won double crown at the Panjim Badminton Club's 7th all-Goa major ranking badminton tournament, at Indoor stadium, Campal.
In the under-16 boys finals, Floyd beat Orville Pereira 21-11, 21-10 and later joined Navneet Nasnodkar to beat Bhushan Anvekar-Pratik Kamat pair 6-15, 15-10, 15-8. Bushan won the under-19 boys singles title beating Floyd 15-8, 11-15, 15-9 and joined Pankaj Naik to beat Govind Navelkar- Narhar Thakur pair 15-5, 15-6 in men's doubles finals. Govind Navelkar claimed the top honours in the men's singles category beating Pankaj Naik 15-6, 15-11. Sharmad Mahajan and Ronika Bandodkar won the under-13 boys and girls singles titles respectively. While Sharmad defeated Akhil Shetye 21-16, 21-19 in boys finals, Ronika got the better of Alisha Rodrigues 21-6, 21-10. Sanath Kamat claimed the top honours among the under-10 boys singles scoring a hard-fought 21-14, 18-21, 21-10 victory over Dhruv Angle. Law Minister Dayanand Narvekar was the chief guest for the prize distribution ceremony. Mr Baburao Naik and Narhar Thakur, secretary GBA were also present. Veterans above 40 (doubles): Vinayak Kamat/ Falari beat Deepak Mayekar / Candido Dias 15-13, 15-10. Veterans above 45 (singles): Bharat Kumar beat Ramnath Shetgaokar 15-9, 13-15, 15-5. Veterans above 45 (doubles): VG Prabhu/ Peter Teles beat PK Gupta/ TA Sawant 15-10, 10-15, 15-1. Veterans above 50 (singles): Pramod Mehta beat TA Sawant 3-15, 15-12, 15-6. Veterans above 45 (doubles): Anil Paigankar/ Justa Da Costa beat Mahesh Kudchadkar/ Nitin Arsekar 15-10, 15-10. Veterans above 55 (doubles): Mahesh Kudchadkar/ Justa Da Costa beat AN Joshi/ Pradeep Dhond 15-11, 15-8.
