64 Copyright cases booked BY HERALD REPORTER PANJIM, FEB 7 – The Goa Police has booked 64 cases and arrested 74 people under the Copy right Act from 2001 to 2005, according to a statement provided by DIG Ujjwal Mishra on Tuesday. According to the statement, Rs 7.4 lakh worth of pirated CDs and VCDs have been seized. Apart from VCDs and CDs, the seizure includes video cassettes, TVs, VCRs and VCD players. Mishra said the police have taken cognizance of the piracy racket prevalent in the State. Let people come to us with complaints and we will act immediately, he said, adding "That's because in cases of music and video piracies, a strong case could be made only on a complaint. He revealed that unlike in 'pornography' cases, where police can act on its own, in piracy if police makes an arrest, then acquittal of the accused is imminent. -- Salaam ali kum. Gabe Menezes.
