Dear Tine Albinus, Thank you for your query. I'm forwarding the same to
the Botanical Society of Goa Network, and also to Goanet. Hopefully
someone there should have an apt answer. Also copying this to my friend
Miguel Braganza, a former agricultural officer (who moved out for a
career in other fields) who is very knowledgeable on such issues. FN

To Goanet

I'm contacting you with the hope, that you with your knowledge of Goa
can either help me yourself or know somebody knowledgeable about plants
who can.

I am a Danish journalist, writing among other things about gardens. I am
a frequent visitor in Goa and enjoy the flora here. There is one plant
very common to Goa that I’m trying to find the name of – in English and
Latin. When I talk to people, they refer to it as ‘Silk cotton’, but I
haven’t been able to find anybody, who knows the real name.

It is difficult to describe it precisely in words, but I’m attaching a
photo to help identify it. Can you help me or do you know anybody, who
can? I would be very grateful for your help. Yours sincerely

Tine Albinus
