Govt to open special clinics to educate public about healthy lifestyle NT Staff Reporter Panaji Feb 18: The cases of heart diseases have been alarmingly increasing in the state, the main causes of the same being stress, sedentary lifestyle, lack of exercise, physical exertion, consumption of junk food, diabetes and so on. Coming out with this information, the Health Minister, Mr Dayanand Narvekar, in a written reply to the Assembly said the government has undertaken a number of steps for reducing such cases in the future. These steps include overall integrated programme for prevention/early detection and management of lifestyle disorders, organising school health problems, taking up pilot projects for cardio-vascular diseases and provision of laboratory services for bio-chemical investigation of diabetes and hypertension. The government will also open special clinics at the district level, educate the public about healthy lifestyle and regular exercises, and also provide counseling services, he said. The Health Minister also informed that the male/female ratio in the state has declined from 1000:964 to 1000:937 in the age group of 0-6 years. The government is aware of this situation, he said, and all necessary measures for proper implementation of the Pre-conception and Pre-natal Diagnostic Technique (Prohibition of Sex Selection) Act in Goa are taken and reviewed regularly. -- Peace be with you!
