Goan set to make it to Guinness book BY HERALD REPORTER PANJIM, FEB 18 — A well-known rangoli artist of Goa Nilesh alias Dattakumar Naik is set to make world record through his rangoli drawing skill — he is set enter his name in Guinness Book of World Record. On March 26, 2006 he will taken on the challenge of beating latest record of about 865.85 m2 of recorded in the name of Charitable Trust Anandam, Ambattur, Chennai, informed Naik at a press conference held on Saturday here. While he has not finalized his topic for drawing yet, he said, mesmerizing Goa's scenic beauty is most likely feature in his rangoli drawing for Guinness Record. He is not formally trained in fine arts but drawing rangoli is his second nature. Not surprisingly he is known for his art not just in Goa, but in Maharashtra and Karnataka. He has been drawing rangoli for last ten years - has also displayed his art at IFFI venue in the last two years. His rangoli drawing is not just restricted to mere designs of flowers and animals. He has drawn amazing portrait of Old Goa Church, Divar Church and Mary Immaculate Church in Panjim. And now he is set to make new Guinness record on March 26, 2006. -- Peace be with you!
