Govt committed to building intelligent society: Rane BY HERALD REPORTER MARGAO, FEB 18 — Chief Minister Pratapsing Rane on Saturday outlined the government's commitment to build a "knowledge society" and called upon the private sector to cater to the educational needs of weaker sections of society. Rane was speaking after inaugurating the Rs 4 crore new building premises of Vidya Vikas Academy here this evening. Further, Rane said the government was committed to giving a further boost to the educational sector to ensure a "knowledge society". The chief minister also appealed to the MLAs to identify open spaces in the towns and cities to keep encroachments at bay. Power Minister Digambar Kamat said that work on the subway at the Comba railway crossing would commence from next month with the State government agreeing to deposit Rs 5 crore with the Konkan Railway Corporation. Kamat said work on the subway and three foot bridges would be taken up as depository works, adding that Chief Minister Pratapsing Rane has already cleared the file. He said Vidya Vikas Academy is amongst the top five schools in Goa, which is imparting quality education and assured all government assistant to Vidya Vikas Mandal on the educational front. -- Peace be with you!
