IT habitat has Sonia's blessings BY HERALD REPORTER PANJIM, FEB 18 — Goa's first mega IT habitat at Dona Paula will receive the blessings of AICC President Sonia Gandhi at 10.30 am on Thursday, February 23. While more details on this project will be unfolded next week, IT Minister Dayanand Narvekar today said that the IT Habitat is a part of the new IT policy framed by the present government and consented to by the party High Command in last August. The foundation stone for the IT Habitat will be laid by Gandhi during her two-day visit to the State next week. Meanwhile, preparations are on for the two-day visit of Ms Gandhi from February 22. According to GPCC chief Ravi Nik, Gandhi will arrive in Goa (via Pune) on Wednesday at 4.30 pm by helicopter. She will land at Campal and proceed to Raj Bhavan and address party workers at 5 pm at the Campal Gymkhana Ground. The GPCC chief denied speculations that Ms Gandhi's visit had any connection with setting the stage for early elections in Goa. He nevertheless stated that the AICC President had at the Hyderabad convention reiterated the need for the party to work for the people at the grass root level and a workers convention will enthuse the workers to execute the wishes of the High Command. Wednesday's address by Mrs Gandhi is exclusively for the party workers. Naik said that Mrs Gandhi would not hold any other public addresses during her visit. On Thursday, February 23, the AICC President will meet party ministers and MLAs in the morning and NGOs between 10-10.30 am. She will then proceed to lay the foundation stone for the IT Habitat at Dona Paula. The AICC President is being accompanied by Party General Secretary Margaret Alva and newly appointed secretary in charge of Goa Siddfart Patel.
