Mumbai local held for theft HERALD CORRESPONDENT MARGAO, FEB 23 — Cuncolim police arrested a Mumbai resident for committing theft of gold ornaments. PI Sidhant Shirodkar disclosed the police acted following lodged by Succoro Fernandes from Velim, who alleged that the Mumbai resident entered the house in the absence of the family and broke open the box containing gold ornaments, consisting of mangalsutra, bracelet and a ring, all valued Rs 80,000. The ornaments were later sold to the goldsmith from Margao. Some of the ornaments have been recovered intact, the PI said. Meanwhile, Maina Curtorim police has arrested one Sidesh Parab, a resident of Mapusa for alleged cheating with forged RC papers, in connection with the selling of a Maruti Baleno. Police says the buyer of the vehicle, who incidentally is a lady from Mapusa, went to the RTO for processing the papers, whereupon it was revealed that the RC papers were forged by the main accused, Sagar Naik, who is alluding the police. -- TUMCHER AXIRVAD ASSUM; DEV BOREM KORUM.
