Valantine, his wife Anna and their children are one of the most law abiding, morally upright and socially conscious families in Goa. This vandalism by vested economic and political interests has to stop and we urge the Home Minister Mr. Rane and the Porvorim police to round up the suspects named and conduct a thorough investigation. It is not uncommon for activists working on rights issues and issues in the public interests to be attacked and their property vandalised by those affected economically and politically. This has to stop! We pledge ourselves to any collective effort to oppose such violence that ultimately is aimed at subverting the democratic process at the grassroots. We also urge all those actively involved in the democratic process within Panchayati Raj not to lessen, but rather redouble their efforts to fight those forces that threaten the public interest and common good. We call upon all such individuals and groups to condemn and protest against such attacks. We hope Mr. Rane and Porvorim police will act deciseively.
