This is a very interesting post because Goa's inability to leverage a piece of the Central Budget pie is entirely our fault. If we chose to send Churchill to Delhi to represent us, than all that we can truly hope for is a bounty in smuggled watches. We have Churchill in Delhi, we have Micky (Mouse) Pacheco as Minister of Agriculture, we have the most corrupt Babush Monserrate holding the Town and Country Planning portfolio. How can Goa ever begin to move into the 21st century. Do these people understand fiscal dynamics, do they understand investment functions, multiplier effects, tax subsidies, fiscal discipline. How can one manage an economy and move it ahead when one's credentials are either smuggler or former Tarvotti. Is this line-up the best that Goa has to offer?
We have ourselves to blame. While the rest of India marches on, we who were at one time renowned for our education and culture are steadily become the backwaters of India. --- John Eric Gomes <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > TOWN AND COUNTRY > PLANNING > > Whilst Goa University holds workshop on economic > planning, and Goa Government > keeps talking about Consumer Education awareness, > revamping general > education, creating jobs, road safety, crime, slums > and so on, it is reported > that five cities namely Ahmedabad, Rajkot (both > Gujarat), Hyderabad, Nagpur, > and Bhopal, will soon undergo a face lift with world > class infrastructure and > civic amenities. This will include state of the art > water supply, sewerage, > sanitation, waste management, transport and road > networks ,with community > participation and accountability !
