Tribute to a dancer: Isadora Wendell Rodricks' latest resort wear collection, titled Isadora in India, had an ethereal quality to it. It was predominantly white, the designer's signature colour, with splashes of blue and green. We saw lots of crinkled fabrics, satin and pre-washed khadi. There was also a lot of dramatic footwear designed by Wendell and created by fellow Goan artist Edwin Pinto.
Also, lots of layers and free-flowing silhouettes. And yes, we saw a slim 'n' trim Ujwala Raut sashay down the ramp in a flounce-y rouge-coloured piece and white satin wraparound. Going by the brochure, the collection was inspired by Isadora Duncan, a Russian dancer who broke the shackles of classical ballet to invent what we now call modern dance. The next line sent a chill down our spines: Isadora died as dramatically as she lived on September 14, 1927. Her long trailing scarf caught in the spokes of her new Bugatti automobile and strangled her. http://specials.rediff.com/getahead/2006/mar/29first.htm?q=tp&file=.htm ~(^^)~ Avelino _____________________________________________ Do not post admin requests to the list.
