RECENT ITEMS OF PARTICULAR INTEREST ON GOANET. BY CORNEL DACOSTA

Further to the reported murder of Fr Eusebio and the apprehension of
two suspects, Goanet has had a profusion of reactions to the murder. A
few have wanted to be 'judge, jury and executioner' including "public
execution by crucifixion upside down, stoning and harvesting of vital
organs." Indeed the Old Testament was used to justify this bizarre
proposal. Others took the view that the matter was entirely for the
courts to determine. At the same time, a lot of discussion has taken
place on the death penalty.

Controversy has emerged on proposed legislation in Goa, to make
HIV/AIDS testing compulsory for those planning to get married. Do

legislation were to be enacted, apparently, Goa would be the first
Indian state to legislate in this manner.

home-schooling in the UK and the USA. However, several inquiries on
Goanet have asked how prevalent home-schooling is in Goa.

For those GV(UK) readers keen to know about protocols and customs at
the time of marriage, an interesting account by Domnic Fernandes
spells out the fascinating ritual in considerable detail.
