Hi Elisabeth and Joe
Disrespect is in the eye of the reader. It is not what that author meant, as
we used to believe in the past. It's like discrimination, (race, sex or
religion), it is how does the individual recipient / victim feels about it.

Some may be so accustomed to reading and writing anti-Catholic rhetoric, that
it becomes their norm. And when one comes across such writings, they are so
de-sensitized, that it may appear "no scintilla of evidence" that the posts
"have been disrespectful of other religions". As I said previously, being
anti-Catholic in thought and words is likely the mantra of the agnostics.

Any learned and self-confident individual, making a bold statement, should have
the courage and finess to apologize for any insensitivity / offenses. And if
one or more netter objects to the type of adjectives, one needs to show
sensitivity in expressing the opinions (not the facts). Goans have a cultural
tendency of showing-off their "intellectual superiority" by bad-mouthing (with
mirchi-masala / exaggerations) something or somebody.

There are a few who love to make "sarkem goddxem zalam" of what they reproduce
of the post they read. They have a problem even to copy what another is saying
without twisting it (knowingly or unwittingly) to make it nonsense.

On the issue of religion, I have a lot of American friends who do not follow
religion. Yet I have never heard them bad-mouth religion or the Catholic
Church, as I see from Goans on Goanet. I have the feeling this is the
experience of others in US, Canada and the UK.
Kind Regards, Aum tujo Goenkar bhau, GL

There is tons of evidence of the blatant abuse. Only one has to visit the
Goanet archives, to get a gist of how disrespectful this individual has
historically been toward people’s religion and their religious beliefs. It is
amazing how netters can be oblivious and allow that kind of abuse on the forum.
