Dear Mario, The Treaty of Versailles was drafted in 1919. Since then they have been drafting shorter treaties in the interest of brevity and time.
I have not advocated the allocation of labour resource. I have merely put forward a concept for its more efficient distribution. Efficiency in resource distribution takes place all the time. Afterall, we no longer depend entirely on banks to finance loans, we raise capital through shares. And we no longer depend on brokers to sell shares, we can go straight to the investors himself. If we can fine-tune the flow of capital, we can of labour too. Perhaps you have some original ideas you'd like to share with us? Lastly, it's easy to talk about the "demand and supply of free market labour", when you sit in your manicured garden in the West. It's a little bit of a different story when you live in Goa, wake up one fine day to find the land next to you become a shanty town of defecation. Your glib commentary on this issue tells me that you have little insight into what the Goan on the street or Bhat is faced with and worse still, you have much less sympathy for him. We as Goans should move beyond this rhetoric of how we are going to be flooded with migrants. That is a given. We should ask our politicians how we are going to handle this situation. We're not the first people in history with this issue. We won't be the last. There are solutions to welcome, accommodate and integrate this labour force that is coming into Goa, without it being at the expense of the indigenous Goan.
