Dear Rene,

"TOGETHER we have all MADE IT AGAIN" - WORLD GOA DAY 2006.

It gives me pleasure to inform you that many of our Goans and their friends in
Melbourne will be
celebrating their 4th Annual WORLD GOA DAY event on 30 September 2006. Due to
the availability
of a grand hall for this great occasion, the event had to be kept in September
this year. We have
had a great response so far and still 6 weeks to go!

The celebration will take place at Kingston City Hall (formerly Moorabbin Town
Hall) on Nepean Highway,
Moorabbin, with a 9 piece live band, Goan cultural dances, conversations in
Konkani and a grand buffet at
a very reasonable cost. The Goans in Melbourne will be keeping their spirits up
without pouring spirit down
and above all enjoying one another's company as well as meeting other friends
in our multicultural Melbourne.

It is not enough to say "I am proud to be a Goan "ani mar-reh fenni!. This may
have been fine some
years ago! This year's World God Day apart from promoting our Konkani language,
it should also be a time
to take stock of things that keep us Goans behind. I believe that total "self
awareness" may be a missing
link in our community and consequently does not allow us to forge ahead. If
this quality can be achieved,
our community can be one of the best communities wherever we decide to settle.

If our Goan culture and heritage is to survive overseas, we should not have
divisions amongst us.
We should desist from any myopic clauses in overseas organisations which only
impedes the growth
of any progressive community.

Love, Harmony and Compassion are the three things that can bring our Goan
community together, I
sincerely hope we can all put the wheels of change in motion from this year's
World Goa Day.

We, in Melbourne Downunder, echo the words "Proud to be Goans".
