Richard, before the English words, lots and lots of Portuguese words were introduced into catholic Konkani such as vestido, cozinha, juramento, cozinheiro, patrao, sossegado, (!!!!!), (a)cabar, etc. etc.
But I was recently told that the real Konkani has proper words for everything and in fact, Konkani speaking Hindus do not mix Portuguese and English with their Konkani... Is that true? Paulo.
