ROSTAD TE GOENCHE MONTRI?
This is the new CD of William de Curtorim. It consists of Songs, Mimicry
and Jokes. The main singers are William de Curtorim, his young daughter
Meera Menezes, popular stage artiste and singer Hortencio Pereira, Michael
de Siolim, Leena, Sunny, Alexinho & Lorna de Morjim. The CD starts with the
Portuguese National Anthem Herois do Mar and then follows the
introduction. Musical score was provided by King Trumpeter Anthony de Velim
and Recorded at: Magic Touch Studio Margao.
The 1st song a solo Sounsar Soddun Gele was rendered by Meera Menezes in
which she is lamenting the sad demise of many of the renowned Goan Musicians
including Joe Perry, Chris Perry, Trumpeter Fidelis, Violinist Alex, Frank
Fernand, Anthony Gonsalves and many others.
The second was again a solo on World Cup 2006 by William de Curtorim in
which William regrets the acquisition of Goa by India the country he said
will never reach for World Cup. Further he said in this song, if Portugal
was still in Goa then Goans would have a chance to play in World Cup
representing Portugal but under India will never. In this song William
called Indian Government as dirty Government and calls openly Viva
Portugal Goyam amkam atam mevla pozddo serkar etc.
The third song is a Trio on Pulis Inspector Kosle by Michael, Lorna &
Alexinho. In this trio the singers disgraced Goan Police force for not
detecting crimes and other such incidents.
The fourth song is again a solo Melody King Sacrament Soddpache? by
Hortencio Pereira. This song is become very critical for one particular
tiatrist who has left his wife and flirting with others and in the bargain
receiving hammering also from females for ditching them one after the other.
According to Hortencio this tiatrist instead of singing songs on maintenance
of morality by others and sermonizing from the Stage should first maintain
his own morality. Further, Hortencio in his solo sings that Alfred Rose is
the only Melody King and besides him nobody can be a Melody King from the
current tiatrists and to be a Melody King Alfred Rose had all the qualities.
Listening to this song, the crticised tiatrist, according to the complaint
lodged by Hortencio to Curchorem Police Inspector on 19.08.06, threatened
Hortencio that he will kill Hortencio. Let us see what will be the result
of this episode. Meantime, I understand Hortencio and William de Curtorim
have already filed a Chapter Case against the criticised tiatrist. As a
matter of interest, earlier, Prince Jacob has also filed a Chapter Case
against another comedian tiatrist who threatened Prince Jacob with dire
consequences. According to my latest information, in Kuwait too we are
seeing high calibre and so called super stars Tiatrists leading immoral life
of course shamelessly. Time will come when audience will stone them when
they enter the Stage and this time is not very far, it may be immediately in
the next Tiatro. One of such characters is involved in Church affairs. I
dont know why Church authority is entertaining such people who are bad
example to others.
The fourth song is yet another solo Rostad Te Gonche Montri on Mopa
Airport by William de Curtorim. In this solo William insults freedom
fighters for disgracing Goa by fighting for the liberation of Goa and now
keeping silence. He called Rane as Sataricho Makodd. Then he goes
singing thus, Luizin - Rane Sardinha all three Goan politicians were
responsible for piloting the Mopa Airport and calls them as traitors who are
now shedding crocodiles tears to fool the public. Indirectly referring to
Luizin Faleiro, William strongly criticizes him for being responsible for
destroying Goa.
Yet another song deserve mention is the solo Upkar Naslole Tiatrist by
Michael de Siolim in which he showers eulogy on William de Curtorim for
introducing new artistes to Konkani Stage.
Besides the above songs the CD consisted of Jokes and Mimicry. One of such
Mimicry is very well rendered by William imitating Sardinha very
beautifully.
his CD was released and put on sale during the recent full house Tiatro
Ghor Bhandlem Ghorabo Moddlo by the renowned playwright and songster
Rosary Ferns. Rarely did I see in Kuwait such a full house Tiatro before.
The credit for this first should go to the credibility of Rosary Ferns whose
name is enough to attract the audience. Besides, Rosarys colleagues,
friends, supporters, stage artistes and well wishers have contributed a lot
to attain this success. Some of his colleagues in this drama have even
acted free of charge and this they have done only because of Rosary.
During this trip of William de Curtorim, I have noticed one thing that
because of his dynamic and daring songs he is become the darling of the
crowd thereby putting a shadow on other tiatrists whom he turned dwarfs.
Hence, he acquired jealousy from his fellow tiatrists not only from those
coming from Goa but also from the local ones. About three years back
because of his highly critical song on Rane, Mapusa Police took him to the
Police Station and gave a scolding. When this has happened I wrote a big
article in Herald in support of William; Rajan Narain and Narvenkar also
sided with William. Immediately after this incident, I went on vacation and
at two occasions I was encountered with stiff opposition by some of the
Stage artistes at Kala Academy, Panjim for supporting William. His
colleagues are as I realized jealous of his fame. But the audience is with
him and they support him very much. His presence in Kuwait Stage will
surely sell over 100 tickets and abundance of goodwill for the Tiatro. What
during those days Kid Boxer was doing from the Stage William de Curtorim is
doing now hough in a slightly different manner. In the history of Tiatro
and Tiatrists, only five Tiatrists have been either arrested and imprisoned
or taken to the Police Station and they are Kid Boxer in Bombay arrested and
deported to Goa somewhere in 1959 for singing a song against Indian
Government. Again he was arrested in Bombay for singing song against Indian
Governement in mid sisties, sentenced for some months and sent to Nasik
prison. Immediately after Goa was annexed by Bharat, at Mapusa during their
trio song, Conception Nelson Anthnoy were arrested and taken to Police
Station for singing a song in which they bared the disgrace of Bharati
Government. In the same Tiatro Kid Boxer too again was arrested for singing
a song against invading Goa by Bharat. Some of the words of his songs
referring to Indian Government are as follows:
Tum Bhitor sorlai chukon, mortoloi sukon, dusreacho dhes pochona.
Tum Pan potti khatai ani poch korun thuktai, lozui kaim dissona,
Tum nestai fokot valo ani khatai fokot palo, tum Goyant sobona.
The first line refers to Bharati Government invading Goa
The second line refers to Bharati people mainly Ghanttis who were eating Pan
and spitting openly everywhere without any decency and
The third line refers to Bharati people known for wearing dhoti valo and
eating cheap bhazi palo.
And the last Tiatrist who was summoned to the Police Station was William de
Curtorim for singing Political song about 3 years back.
