Last weekend we attended a Hindu wedding reception in our town in upstate New
York. The reception was at the Country Club. Gracing the occasion were seven
of eight grandparents of the bride and groom. That was great. They were from
Goa, Bangalore and Mangalore. Also present were guests who were Parsis and
Muslims (from India and Pakistan). Selma are you reading?:=)) An American
colleague said, "this was one of the best wedding celebration he ever attended."

It brought back memories of our own daughter's wedding in California a few
years ago. At the reception, the MC came to us and said, "Can I have the names
of the Bridal Party to be introduced before the event starts."

He then went on to say, that he did the MC at weddings nearly every weekend for
the last ten years. He does not recollect ever introducing a bridal couple
where the parents of both bride and groom were still married to their original
spouses. A pretty sad commentary on modern western society. I hope Indian /
Goan society can learn for that experience.

Regards, GL
