Well Eugene, Mr research was done painstakingly in 1989 - well before the Internet. All the sources were library books that were in the University of Texas Library at that time and books on Goan History that were available at the time. BTW The Portuguese had smuggled out many of these these books from Goa at Liberation time and sold them to the British, who in turn sold them to the oil-rich Texans. I still have some related reference materials as well as the thesis on "Re Discovering Goa" boxed up in one of 5-car garages in Indian Harbour Beach.
But while I relax and take in the crisp Atlantic breeze here in a third floor condo verrandah on the Atlantic in my Kashti, and feel really euphoric - I would hate to go home across the road from the beach, and look for (or Re-Search) the "Rediscovering Goa" thesis and material in the hot, non-airconditioned garages - that would be a real predicament as I would be sweating in my Kashti ! Best Regards, Dr. Carmo D'Cruz, Sashtikar, Proud Velkar Even More Proud to be a Goenkar ! INDIAn Harbour Beach From: Eugene Correia .... Well, i would like to request Carmo to let us know his reference to kunbis, gavdas, etc as first Goans. I wish to read the history books where he found this information.
