Hi, The article mentioned above by Joe Monteiro is well written, but my compliments end there.
I fail to understand the nostalgia of a ferry and the "disappointment" over a new bridge in its stead. I'm not sure if the writer is a resident of the village for I'm sure they will have a different tale to tell. There is always a "price" to pay for development but questioning the validity of a bridge over a ferry is nostalgia in the extreme! So what happens when someone needs to get across at night when there is no ferry plying? Or in rough conditions? What then? In my humble opinion, this nostalgia over the "exotic past" is misplaced. Yes, we need to question where Goa is headed with the massive influx of people from out-of-state and more importantly the entry of mafia dons. But not over well meaning development. Just my thoughts.
