Selma makes good points in the post appended below. The best American universities impart a much more well rounded education than Indian ones. And in intellectual abilities and other skills the best and the brightest in both countries are on average equal. The apparent disproportionality of the material success of Indians living in India is likely a consequence of a skill and talent-based immigration policy of the United States, as well as means-based self-selection.
