Thank you for publishing on Goanet my review of the Konkani tiatr in
Germany. Anyone doing anything in Konkani gladdens my heart, and it is but
just to showcase their work on a community outlet like the Goanet by writing
a review. I used to be the elder-statesman of the Goan community in Germany
in the 60s. Since my retirment to Spain in 1990, I have maintained contact
with those who carry on the social
activities I had begun, particulary with Mariano Pereira, who used to be a
good collaborator of mine. He is young and energetic and above
all loves Goa and the Konknai language. When I get the itch to speak in
Konkani, I call him on the phone and we speak in Konkani.
It is tough to unite Goans, no matter where they may be, ill-blessed as many
are, with the 'crab-mentality'. Otherwise, we would have
come out like the shining star of Goa in other countries we inhabitate.
I am most grateful to our compatriot Herman Carneiro who had the felicitous
idea of initiating the Goanet organisation helping thereby unite
Goans worldwide. You, folks at Goanet, sacrificing your freetime are doing
a great service to the Goan community.
The Goanet has helped us immensely in promoting the World Goa Day, and Rene
acknowledges that.
I can only say may God bless Herman, Bosco, Fredrick, Vivian and other
