You have more than redeemed yourself with your data about your statement. Of 
course this applies for those who would care to read and understand the thrust 
of your message.

But I am still at a loss if you blame the Viagara and post-Viagara generation 
of Goans for those statistics.  From the age-group you quote below, it is 
precisely this generation for whom you had high praise, that appears to be the 
major culprit.  This is the same group that another poster described as burning 
itself out through self-consumption (or to that effect).  

Would you not agree that what drives these changes in the Goan way of life are 
the many many individuals who believe that there is nothing like tradition?  
And each can behave and believe in what ever they choose?  Or to re-word it, 
'they want their cake and eat it too!'

One minor correction in your original post, I do not think that the older 
generation wants Goa to revert to the nostalgic past. Rather I would like to 
see Goans build on the moral goodness and solid foundations of the past, 
instead of pretending to reinvent it.
