Hi Vidyadhar In response to your post, I'd say that, having read Marx very considerably---both the old Marx and the New Marx in the extensive literature, I am afraid I have never come across your quote "Question Everything" and attributed to the great thinker himself! Indeed, I am not sure he ever did say this! However, I am sure that, although the capitalist Right and especially the Neocons would like to imagine and state that "Marx has or should be assigned to the dusbin of history" I fear that, such a view arises from a lot of ignorance among the seriously unread and uninformed!
They seem totally unaware for instance, how Marx, so long ago, had so clearly anticipated mechanisms, and expressed his concerns about the seeming inevitability of modern day globalization and its workings, to the serious disadvantage and detriment of vulnerable economic groups and countries even though it was rather too early to say that Globalization is Americanisation! Also, you may be interested to know that in the UK, some 18 months ago, there was an extensive poll to ascertain who was the greatest international philosopher of all time. Much to my surprise, it turned out to be Karl Marx and much was written, following the poll, explaining this outcome. But isn't it strange that in London, on his deathbed, when Marx was supposedly asked what he would perhaps be most remembered for, he responded that he would be quickly forgotten and that, had he had the time, he would re-write most of his works! But I do digress rather easily here and need to come back to the heart of your post below. I am ever so glad that you joined me, Bosco and Selma, among others, in emphasising the vacious nature of right-wing logic, especially in America. In particular, your words sum this issue ever so succinctly in response to one of Goanet's frequent posters..."It is sad that while you seem to accept the right of employers to cartelise and jointly fix wages, you do not give the same right to workers and their representatives." Well said Vidyadhar, pointedly to people who have the word "democracy" on their lips but don't recall what it means in relation to workers!
