In my earlier message, it was said that I would not be able to accept new changes viz. married priests.. http://lists.goanet.org/pipermail/goanet-goanet.org/2006-November/051071.html For that matter, I don't even accept when the lay people distribute Holy Communion at Old Goa and at many Parishes in Goa. Don't know why we need such lay people where we have so many priests (perhaps, more and more priests are going on foreign trips mainly to accumulate wealth?) I know for sure that a priest from Mandur go to Europe very often and even say masses in Goan houses (e.g. UK Houses are not as big as Goans, also it seems saying mass in houses are banned in Goa, but the rule does not apply abroad ?) The Goans who thus come for the Mass would contribute 50pound each or more and give to the priest, 50=Rs.4000+. Yet there are some who would accumulate wealth by other means. The money thus gathered is well managed by them perhaps by sending to various family/relatives or very close friends' bank accounts. Most get away with it as we take them as 'next to God' and some are not so lucky... Church is yet to explain as to why Rs.80 lakhs were found in a deceased priest's room at S.Goa. Perhaps, he did not get time to manage it as death was sudden ? (I dare anyone to challenge me on this Rs.80 Lakhs cash found, which I also mentioned 8 months ago). Coming back to distribution of communion, what about the Nuns ? Can't they take over or cover for the shortages of priest if any? I suppose, there is at least one convent or nunnery per village. Plus, there are sometimes, brothers (Sr. student Priests who are sent to parishes on ' Regency ' 6 months). Why we choose the lay people for the communion or handling the 'live Jesus Christ'? And what is the criteria in selecting such ministers ? Money ? Donations ? Prestige ? Bhattkarponn? I know for fact, there is one man who had an affair with his sister in law who was also staying in his house. His wife was overweight so he was using his sister?. Just to please the society, he decided to find one husband to his sister in law who in turn marry a boy from the same neighbourhood. Lot of dowry given (courtesy, brother in law). Perhaps, he thought by doing so he could buy them both. After spending just one day/nite at her husband's the couple came back to her sister's but this time her brother in law would not let her go saying that they both should stay at his place for good. The new husband disagreed and left the house leaving behind his wife. That's it. Marriage is ruined nor she would agree for a divorce. The then parish priests were aware of all this so also the entire village. I was shocked to know when I fist heard this wicked man is one of the ministers at the very same church. The boy recently died as his life was shattered, he lost his job and was not in a proper state of mind. There are other instances too in the same parish like a lady minister and her past life etc. In view of above, I have one suggestion: Let the Holy communion be kept at one or two or more central place/s and let the people come forward and help themselves without other people needing to serve them. And when we receive Lord, not only our hearts should be clean but also our hands etc And I, as a sick & a sinner, would always say.. Saiba, tum mhojea bhitor euchem maka favona, punn tujea eka utran-uch maka bholaki meutoli
