Confining myself to commenting only on academia, science, health and creative talents, my criticism of this list would be that it is drawn in a rather arbitrary, cursory and sloppy manner. There does not seem to be any consistency or uniformity in the criteria used for selection.
For example, a rookie student researcher cannot be in the same league as Dr. Shirodkar by any stretch of imagination. Moreover, why would one research student who has just published her first paper be singled out for this honor when there are many other Goan students like her both in India and abroad researching all kinds of links. It also seems unjustified to pick one practicing physician in some foreign country among hundreds who have been practicing quite successfully in Goa and elsewhere, many of whom have had honors of various kinds bestowed upon them by their local communities or their governments. Some additional points are as follows: The Goan mathematical genius Babla Singbal did not have a doctorate to his name. If I remember correctly, he had only a Bachelor's degree. But he was a quintessential wizard when it came to math. He worked at TIFR (Tata Institute of Fundamental Research), not TIFT. Datta V. Naik should have been added to the academia list. His contributions have been in graduate education. In academia, science and health, there are many other Goans working in Goa and rest of India that should have been included, some much more prominent than a few that have been included e.g. Raghunath Mashelkar, Kashinath Mahale, Dharmanand Kosambi and his son, etc. Eminent writers and poets have been excluded from the creative talents list. No singer or musician with a Hindu-sounding name has been included in the creative talents list, of whom there are a legion.
