The very profound 'apology' for not adding SG into the
list is a brilliant piece of cover up writing. Besides
now mention is made about anglo centricity.
Some time ago SG had compiled the contributions of
Goans overseas via the G. Observer. I wonder if FN
ever referred to this info? I had provided info on
prominent Goans in Macau, Justice S. Figueiredo (primo
of Gabriel), dr. Afranio Almeida gynac, who assisted
in nearly half of Macau's population and many more
important contributors to this tiny land.
BC
As Gabriel de Figueiredo says, it was Bernardo Colaco
who raised this
issue first, and made it a question of recognising
"anglophone" versus
"lusophone" Goans. I see no such division, a figment
of imagination at
best. If anything, the fact is that the so-called
"anglophones" are
far more accessible and prominent in an
"anglo"-centric cyberspace.
So, the challenge is on the "lusophones" to make
themselves more
central to the debate, instead of most of them just
shrinking into a
shell that harkens back to the pre-1961 days. (This
comment is in no
way meant for the very interesting work done by
Constantino, who has
contributed solidly to taking the debate forward.)
