The BJP played the Ayodhya card at the national level and rose to power. It
cannot hide, nor has
it attempted to, its communalist orientation. The BJP in Goa is mildly corrupt
and magnificently
communalist. One does not need to personally take money to be corrupt but to
benefit sponsors with
contracts. During the first IFFI, Kala Academy was "renovated" for 23 crores
(seats were
upgraded). At the same time a Marathi paper sprung to life. Do the math and
connect the dots. The
BJP was silent during the Gujrat riots, gave us the infamous Freedom struggle
VCD, Fontainhas
vandals. The BJP has never had a majority in Goa but manipulated its way to
power.
The Congress is mildly communalist and magnificently corrupt. Very few of its
MLAs or Chief
Ministers can justify their current assets and wealth based on an MLA salary
alone.
Goa is either stuck with either crooked or incompetent Ministers or both. Can
those who want the
BJP or Congress in power (besides their sponsors) explain why?
Enter the May 2007 elections - hopefully a third option which might be a
coalition of various
groups and individuals. One can only hope.
