'Sucegad Goa' When we will learn the importance of time ??
Time is precious.
Time is money
Wasted time never returns
And so on..
But when we 'Sucegad' Goans will learn to accept this ?
Is there any thing in GOA that starts on time??
Be it IFFI, Carnaval Floats, Divar Bonderam, Global Goans Convention, Government
functions/Meetings etc etc
I remember, those days when tiatr were held outdoors at night 10.30pm but
after the whistling
& shouting of the audience, the tiatr would finally starts around 11.30pm.
Another thing that seems will never change- Goan Wedding/reception.
The invitation card says 7pm but it actually starts say an hour or two later.
I can understand Ministers/MLAs or chief guests habitual late arriving etc
Will it be always like this? It is because we Goan are really 'Sucegad' ?
Here is one of the most recent examples...
On Jan.29, we went to a musical show at Peda Benaulim.
Huge (Quarter page size) ads were seen on Herald with about 36 photos of
professional
Tiatrists including all comedians.
It was to start at 7pm.
We accordingly planed to arrive there 7.30pm and leave at 9.30pm so as to
attend a dinner at
Goa-Velha.
So we arrive there at 7.30pm but surprised to see there were about 25 people
only.
At around 8 pm people stated pouriing in and by 8.15 the crowd was almost half
the capacity.
At this time we bought 5 tickets (Rs.50 each) hoping the show will start at
8.30pm.
It was 8.45 now but still no sign, then 9 o'clock (crowd this time 85% i.e.
about 600) . The
show started just after 9. Only because the audience started shouting/whistling
loudly. Then
come 'ushhhh' 'Ushhh' from both men and women (including us, I think I said
this for the first
time in my life) and at this time the organiser announced the arrival of Chief
Guest South Goa
MP Churchill Alemao, for this, even more people joined in saying 'ushhh ushhhh'.
Is Churchill so unpopular in Benaulim ? Could it be for this reason he is
contesting from
Navelim ?
By the time the opening group song got over, it was 9.16pm. We watch only two
songs Minin De
Bandar and Osvi Viegas and then we left exactly at 9.30pm
What a waste of money and time!!!
